Entryway Closet Makeover

Sometimes, home decorating makeovers go awry. My entryway closet redesign is an example. I tried customizing the closet with a simple pole and hangers. Except…I never used the hangers. So I needed a better solution. First, a bright coat of paint — next, I replaced the hangers with coat hooks. Finally, I moved the top shelf down to give myself more storage space, and built a storage cabinet with a wood-finish top for shoes and other miscellaneous on the bottom of the closet. With the help of some semi-concealed chest hinges from the local hardware store and three charming baskets for the top shelf, the makeover was complete — and I found I had much more room and functionality than with the old closet!
