How to Get Rid of Weeds for Good

Concentrate on removing one variety of weeds at a time. The right tools are fork-like cultivators, steel trowel, garden knife and spade or mattock for deep-rooted weeds. Wearing gloves protects you from thorns, irritants and the like. Pull weeds from moist soil. In summer, morning or late afternoon is more suitable for weeding as temperature is bearable. Finish smaller portions at a time instead of removing all weeds at once. Use a trowel to remove weeds like Nutsedge and plantain. Crabgrass is easy to remove but you should use a spade or a mattock for quackgrass, torpedograss etc. Dollarweed and dayflower should be removed by using a trowel to remove soil near the plant containing long and brittle rhizomes which regrow. The seedlings of weeds spreading seeds around must be uprooted with hoe or cultivator. Do not allow the weeds to return by preventing new seeds reaching the soil.
